Speaking of Cry-Babies
Listen to the cry babies...worse than a 2 yr old being weaned from a pacifier! Very sad how jealousy and envy can make a grown man cry! Oh, arrogance is a male gene so how does this make a valid complaint? He has money and rich people have a right to make threats to get what they want. I really find it hard to believe that the offer will hurt Concord or they would not have negotiated the deal. It is what it is! Get over it! Negativity doesn't get you anywhere! Move, sell your damn house, heck get some earplugs!!!!! There are many things going on in the nation and cry babies cry about this. You folks have got to be from New England!!!!

7 oh 4 - I know you are thinking ole Bruton played everyone but honestly - the region needs the cash his enterprise brings in. So if that means we should pucker up and play kissy-poo . . . it ain't that bad. Not in the big scheme of things. I love the tax revenue . . . helps keep my property taxes from going up. Or anyway - that is the illusion I cling to, Hee Hee.

I thought it was just an increase in the sales tax as opposed to property taxes.
Second, the new name is effective this Tuesday. I was on 85 heading south from Kannapolis and saw a couple of the signs already changed to Bruton Smith. The ones on Speedway Blvd change tonight.

Actually I'm wrong. It appears that nobody knows how they're going to pay for the excess 20 million.

Ultimately, leaders concluded that losing the speedway would be too big of an economic blow. So they agreed to a deal they still don't know how to pay for.

This article's pretty interesting as well.
Charlotte Observer | 05/10/2008 | Sales tax hike a possible option
Quote:
|
Cabarrus County will ask the legislature for permission to raise the local sales tax, knowing that the county and Concord must raise $80 million to pay for speedway owner Bruton Smith's incentives package.
|
The article goes on....
Quote:
|
If the sales tax plan fails, Day said, the only other funding choices would be to raise property taxes or cut programs in the budget. "It'll come down to making those hard choices," he said.
