Holy Moley Dirt throwing South Of Newtown Rd.
I cannot believe the amount of land clearing going on South of Newtown Rd on Providence Rd. Starting with the corner of Newtown and Providence, where the monsterous Newtown Gardens is being built. Just a couple miles down to Howards Mills??? Anybody have any ideas what going there? Its huge also. Across the street to Cureton, which is still being built out. Next door to Prescott??? Hospitals, Office buildings, strip malls....it truly is incredible whats taking place on Providence Rd.

yes the Howards Mill there will be the Lowes Home Improvement Center, Mcdonalds, and Walgreens right now...the Regional Union county library also is considering a spot over there which will be awesome...Prescott villiage is going to be like Boutiques and little stores...that is it for right now..and the Medical Center is going to have an Emergency Room, which is also great cause its so close to our home...
Eventually GS carolina will be building adjacent to the Cureton Town Center and which is going to be like Birkdale Village, and then on the other side Movie Theater etc...but that isnt supposed to happen at least until 2010 so who knows...but that area is just going to Boom...for housing that is going to be great...

I just received a notice for a meeting with the developers because I live within a certain distance. There are two meetings scheduled. The first being at the site this month and the next one at Marvin Elementary in June. They sent a real small, poor rendering of the site. Apparently there will be a pond and fountains on the South/East corner of Newtown and Providence. I really couldnt make out much of the plan, but its huge.

I will be moving into the area in the next few months. Can someone give me a heads up as to what Newtown Gardens and Howards Mills are?
So far I gathered from this thread that Newtown Gardens is at the Providence + Newtown Rd. Intersection...I saw them digging yesterday afternoon and wondered what they were going to put up there.
Is anyone from here attending the meeting? Our new home is very close by in Woodhall, so I would like to know more about the new contsruction going in.
Thank you everyone!

It looks like it will be nice. Do you happen to know when construction will start and when it is suppose to be completed?

Whether they build more homes or a shopping center there will be more traffic. It is inevitable. I'd rather they build a shopping center - Union County needs more commercial to offset the mostly residential taxbase. Atleast there will be a park included in the project and atleast it is more like a "village" so you can walk from store to store. Hopefully our new governor will address our transportation needs so Providence Rd can be widened past Rea Rd.
