The new owners George and Mike are so much more friendlier than the previous. They actually smile and take the time to talk. Stop in and give them a try, you won't be disappointed. The food is great and they are planning to make everything better.
If you haven't been yet, Delancey Street is worth going to. (I go like once every other week. If I went more often, I'd gain 50 lbs. That good.) It's on Ardrey Kell and Tom Short near the Ballantyne area of South Charlotte. I know they are tinkering with their menu slightly, but they are keeping all the good stuff. I recommend the corned beef, the grilled cheese, and you MUST try the potato pancakes and cucumber salad. Also, George is very kind and will talk to you for as short as long as you like. He'll remind you of the soft-spoken Greek Diner owners of the Northeast.
I had the corned beef last month sorry but being from NY it was just awful...dry and fatty YUK....sorry Just dont think it is worth the money....and the service also wasnt so great...If you are looking for good NY deli go to Katz in the Arboretum.....
I found the corn beef to be very fatty. I thought the prices were high too and the customer service was okay..it was like being back home in the northeast...semi nice people with high prices..haha!
The new owners of Delancey Deli are putting out a newer menu. Lowering some prices and adding some new items. The food is great. People need to give them a try.
The previous owners left them with a mess and not so great rep. But in the short 4 weeks they have been here they have managed to turn things around and I do believe with determination and love for the business this is going to be a excellent place to eat. Stop in and see them and show them some nice southern hospitality I am sure you will be surprisingly happy.
