Do you all think if DS stays a while in C'ton and leaves in a few hours he will do better weather-wise than if he leaves right now? Seems the most active part of this storm is moving out of SC now . . . ????

I like Intellicast. I tend to use NOAA and I like the clean look on these Intellicast images. Very nice, MM.
I will report when I hear from DS as to what it has been like on his little trip. He was gonna stop here in CLT and then head to Boone. So we will see how this goes . . .

DS just left our house, heading to Hickory, then to Boone. He and his best friend, a Marine Reservist, dropped off some Mahi Mahi and Mother's Day greetings, lol. I said - okay - you are heading right where that system is moving - and there is a tornado warning right now for Burke Co - so there could be tornadic activity up 321.
DS son "Well, if I see Dorothy and Toto, I will duck and cover." SIGH. BTW - they had a great time deep sea fishing in Charleston . . . and the weather didn't really get in their way.

I am not sure if I posted this before but we just moved from the Tampa Bay area in FL. They have one station on 24/7 with local news and every 9 min they have weather. If you need to know the weather doopler all we did was put that station on. So simple. No interupptions in what you were seeing on TV but if you know the weather is bad just put that staion on.

Report from Cornelius
Whew!!!! That was intense!!! We started picking up warnings about 515p for Lincoln and Gaston then about 5:30 for N. Mecklenburg. At 5:40p I decided to high tail it once I learned the track was heading right for us. We grabbed the animals, guns, 2-way, (and of course wifey grabbed the wedding photos ) and booked it out of Heritage Green/Oakhurst.
We passed Home Depot and could see the storm and wifey wanted me to turn around. Hail was beating my new FJ (that's TWICE in 4 days!!! ) as we got to Hwy 73. As we got on the on ramp at exit 25 to head south on 77, we could see the funnel cloud and it was MASSIVE! It looked like it was on top of McGire and could drop out of the sky at any moment.
I couldn't believe how slow people were going on 77! It was only drizzling....anyways once 77 opened up for the HOV I floored it until we got to exit 18. Got off the ramp and observed Cornelius from there and listened to 1110 to follow storm.
It really was a beautiful site but we were so close to losing everything, including many lives. I also heard it touched down briefly at the Lincoln county airport.
Thursday I said that I had never felt that close to a tornado, well today trumped that! Amazing but scary as all hell....I hope Concord is fairing ok now........
