The powers that be are hoping for just that... people getting out of work & going right to the ball park to watch a game. They're also looking for the corporate bucks...more sky boxes planned (probably means an increase in ticket prices, too). 2010 is the target date.

They will not be Uptown Fast enough!

We welcome the CHARLOTTE Knights back to Charlotte!

When are they suppose to break ground on the new Uptown Stadium?

I don't want any personal treatment or anything, because I like to keep my reviews as a fan would see them. Now that I can go back as often as I want, I don't have to worry about that anymore.

I'm somewhat envious of your job!
I have to say, the people I get to work with are a pleasure! Very friendly & helpful!

FYI...all of the food concessions are staffed by non-profit groups for the majority of the games. They are all volunteers, working to raise $$ for their group or organization. Many of them have been doing it for years. (I know how that works...ran a non-profit souvenir concession myself for 7 seasons at Yankee Stadium before moving to NC.)

Don't be envious...well...maybe just a little, LOL!! once you've worked in a baseball stadium, major or minor league, it kind of gets in your blood...you're hooked!! It's work, but it's alot of fun! I especially enjoy the little kids & how excited they get when they go to the game...it's the best!

I'd love to see a copy of your review!

Not sure...someone said this past weekend that it was on hold at the moment. Supposedly, the location for the new stadium was approved for use as a park, not a stadium. Guess they have to sort through all that red tape first before they proceed. Believe me, when we hear anything definite, I'll let you know.

Living Uptown we have heard so much rigamaroar about the land swap...Park VS Baseball Stadium. If that one lawyer would just shut up and keep his nose out of it we will get it!

Yep, all the usual ball park suspects, LOL. We also have Subway Sandwiches & Carly's Italian Ice. You can even have parties & picnics there. HMmmm...maybe we should have a CDF night?!?

Oh, and...
...interesting. I believe from here on out most of the games I go to will be on Sundays. Thanks for the heads-up.
Yep, it's a SC Blue Law...no alcohol sales on Sundays. But they do sell O'Douls if you feel like having a "beer".

I'm easy to find...I'm the one with the accent...the Bronx accent, LOL!!

Who said it was??

I said the city shouldn't be spending $25 million on an unneeded and unnecessary baseball stadium when the crime problem is so bad. That money could be better spent on some DAs.

YOU are the one that mentioned "violent" crime on the rise with your opposition of the new Uptown Stadium moving Uptown.

Uptown is VERY VERY VERY safe!

Where is the crime bad....surely not Uptown.

Yes - I'll repeat for the THIRD time - because of the MONEY. The city keeps saying they can't afford DAs or police but they can suddenly find $25 million for a stadium that wasn't supposed to cost anything.

For the THIRD time....YOU mentioned crime...just read your original post. Everyone else has. You even used the word Violent Crime.

Maybe you should have stated money only...and left the crime part out.

It is coming Uptown...just a matter of time.....

Not sure why you think Charlotte is shelling out 25 million to the Knights?

From a recent story in the Observer: Local officials are backing a complex land deal featuring a minor-league baseball stadium in Third Ward, a park, and a mixed-use project called Brooklyn Village. Elected officials have approved the plan, including an agreement to let the Charlotte Knights build a stadium.

It's a land swap, not a money giveaway.
