In case you weren't aware, part of a parking deck collapsed this morning near SouthPark Mall.
DH said traffic in the area is heavy as a result.

I second that thought! It just makes me think "what do they make those parking lot columns out of - Play-Doh? This happened not that long ago - I hope parking lot collapses are not following the home break-in trends!

Don't be so quick to blame the contractor, a good look at the design engineer should be considered. Contractors build whats on the drawings, the engineering firm or construction managers are there to inspect the projects as it is being built. Concrete samples are typically taken on every truck load and tested. All structual steel is designed by engineers and built by approved fabricators.
