Does anyone know how much it costs to change the locks?

Are you looking to actually change the locks or just get them rekeyed?
I like to be a handyman of sorts so I always come at these types of questions from that point of view. If you are not handy at all you may not find my answers helpful.

Buying and installing new locks is easy. Or you can have it done by a locksmith or handyman. The new lock will come with keys, ready to install. The price will depend on which lock you choose.

If you are looking to rekey then you have a few options...

*Call a locksmith to do it at the house. This is the most expensive as he will charge a service/trip fee but it is the most convenient for you.

*Remove the locks and take them to a locksmith or hardware store to rekey.

*Go the the hardware store and buy the kit to do it yourself.
CHANGE-A-LOCK $10.95 rekey kit, precut keys, color coded bottom pins.
I have never done it but have heard that some brands are easier than others, some being quite easy in fact. The kits cost $10-$20.

If it was me I would take the second option....take them to the hardware store or locksmith and let them do it. It should cost about $10 with a key included (I think that is what we paid a year or so ago).

I found this post here as well.

It cost me about $120 a few weeks ago. $70 for service call and about 10 per keyhole. I had 2 locks which had keyholes on each side of door.
