We have some fantastic police officers in this city and county, very dedicated, caring and hardworking - please explain your comment or retract it.

There's nothing wrong with the personnel on the police force. I would say we need more cops and an improved judicial process but that's as far as I would go.

It's wrong to say there is something wrong with the men and women patrolling our city, its not their fault they work (and often are over worked) in a system that has some serious flaws.

The main thing I would change is the taxes. High income tax & sales tax, grocery tax, highway use tax, higher tax on prepared meals, it's too much.

We need more of a liberal arts scene here. I have seen it improve greatly over the years but it is still lacking. I know music, art and entertainment usually take a back seat to better schools and roads but maybe we could even up the scale a little. I however do have a photography background so I'm probably a little bias

You've got a lot of nerve!!! These men and women put thier life on the line every single day for your safety and you come on here and slam them??? Shame on you!!! And by the way, in the short time that I've been in North Carolina these cops have caught more criminals than the D.C. cops caught in the 10 years I was there. Oh yeah, and they are doing this while thier loved ones await thier safe return. We may need more cops, but we are damn proud of the ones we have now.

Sure, the cops are good but they could be better. They aren't perfect.

When I had occasion to call the police, I was supposed to get a follow up from a detective. I never did. So, I don't have a report number, so I can't follow up on my own case. Was there ever an arrest? I don't know. In my case, they also could have chosen to investigate further, but they chose not to. I have had a simple vehicle break in in the past elsewhere, and the cop took the time to get some fingerprints of the vehicle. That has not been my experience here.

I have heard other stories, but that's hearsay. I've heard enough to be able to form my opinion though.

Now why don't we go back to talking about rednecks or something.

Because that's in another thread.

Between an increase in crime and an obviously antiquated system, I wouldn't want that job at all. To say the one thing you would change is "better cops" is severely out of line.

I'd love to change the traffic and traffic lights. Some lights only hold for a second and only hold long enough for 3 or 4 cars to get through. I would also like to change the downtown streets. The streets are very confusing, its very easy if you're not from around here to go up the wrong street. They are not very visitor friendly.
