I didn't realize that Flyleaf and Seether were playing so late. I might have to go now I thought I'd have to play hooky to go (I had decided against that, LOL). Now, I can work and play

I would! Parking uptown can be expensive so this would be an excellent alternative

If you can find parking at any of the rail stops! DH goes to work at 6am but several in his office who come in at 9am say they have had a lot of trouble finding parking spots and keep heading up the light rail line to various stops and sometimes haven't found ANY parking spots~!

I would like to take the train tomorrow with the kids but I am a bit concerned now!

Here is another option if parking is limited and I am sure many other people have this idea about using light rail so it may be more feasible to do than fighting for a parking space Take bus 58 Light Rail shuttle from Carolina Place Mall to the light rail station.
Base on that schedule it looks like around 10-15 minute bus ride.
Map of the Park n Ride is shown on that schedule

I may have to rethink this.....with 3 kids and me, it looks like $8 for the bus rides and $7 for the lynx.....$15 just for all of us to get to Uptown and back! Yikes!

Transfers from the bus to the Lynx are free.

Children 5 and under are free. Children in K-12 are 1/2 price ($0.65).

At the most your price would be $6.50 round trip (2.60 + 1.30 + 1.30 + 1.30).

If you are going in the evening, you shouldn't have any trouble finding parking at a park and ride station. Yes, some of the lots may be full from 9-2, but people are always coming and going.

Since Lynx has opened, I have not driven to uptown anymore. It is so much easier to take lynx if you are close to a station. It also doesn't hurt that my two year old loves riding the Choo-Choo (as do 99% of the kids on the train).

For a newbie in town- leaving Highland Creek, what station would I park at, and which would I get off at? We are not Nascar fans, but would like to see some of Charlotte. Would I be close to the Discovery Center if we visited Speedstreet? Thanks!

We are NASCAR fans, but can't go during during the week. So, are planning on going early on Saturday afternoon. This will be our first time. Would love to stay and see Travis Tritt, but it will probably be close to midnight when his Show is done......that is just too late for us to be out driving around with thousands of other folks. We live in Huntersville and seldom come into the Uptown area, even at night. Don't want to get frustrated and lost!!
Does the Light Rail have a station anywhere close to Huntersville/Gilliad St./I-77?
