Yay or Nay? My brother is coming to stay with me this weekend and we're going to check it out because some of our favorite bands happen to be playing. I was just wondering if anyone had been in years past and opinions on it. I gotta say, the mix of race fans, and late night music has me curious...

YES! I am not a fan of Nascar because growing up here really got me sick of it... but speedstreet is a blast. Great bands, food and freebies. Fun to people watch too.

I too am not a fan of nascar either....but Speedstreet is enjoyable. Living Uptown...you gotta check it out for the food if nothing else. People watching is very fascinating too.

Nascar seems to have a bigger out of town following. Just go to the racetrack...I bet 50-75% have out of state tags.

I dont like Nascar either but Speedstreet is fun. It's a more diverse crowd than you would expect and sponsors are always giving away free stuff.

A lot of fun! Go early on Thurs and Fri to get all the freebies. Tons of crap. Then go back in the evening for the entertainment.

Man I sure wish I could be there to see Seether and some of the other bands. Not a big NASCAR fan either, but Speedstreet is supposed to be one of the best festivals in the Carolinas. Maybe next year.......

Agreed! Though the last couple of years I went it seemed like the free stuff wasn't as good as usual... I haven't been to the last two; did it get better again?

When does this start? Thursday? What time?

We went a couple of years ago and the kids had fun. I would love to go on a weekday to avoid the crowds.

Does anyone recommend using the Light Rail that night then to drive on in?
