I just got a late "you're hired" from a company in Charlotte, and I am going to be relocating by 1 Feb. I am looking for a quality apartment in a good area that is low on crime. My place of employment is in the southwest side of town near Pineville. I would like to live on the east/southeast side because I want to be closer to Concord for personal reasons. Is this a good side of town? I would like to stay away from as much traffic as possible because I am about sick of it in Tampa. Is the commute from east/southeast to southwest bad on traffic? Since I have short notice to move any advice that you guys can give will be appreciated.

Ryan

Traveling east to west is not quite as bad traffic-wise as going north to south. I would suggest you look at apartments along hwy 51 from Pineville to Matthews. This would allow you pretty good access to I485 for a quick trip up to Concord. I would check out Echo Forest Apartments.
Here is their info for you:
1729 Echo Forest Drive
Charlotte, NC 28270
704-845-1120

or Reafield Village Apartments (check them out at Reafieldvillage.com - I think).

Good luck!

I'm on the north end of town but I moved up here from Tampa. I hope you enjoy it here as much as I do!

What on earth do you want snow for?! Left it behind about 9 years ago and haven't seen too much, other than a flurry here or there in Asheville. Things shut down here, too. They just can't handle the snow like up north. Don't try to drive in it, either. The roads are NOT taken care of and just because you know how to drive in it, many others around you don't and it makes it dangerous for you!:
