What would be the yearly car tax (if you know) on a Honda Accord 2008 and a Dodge Caravan 2004?
Thx.

there is no car taxes in north carolina just a first time HUT tax 3% & and property taxes that could vary depending on where you are living since they are collected by a city or county that you reside. Property taxes annually. Registration annual, inspection annual

Asheville has a 'car tax' of $10 a year, which is in addition to the property tax. I'm sure that other municipalities have also taken similar nickel and dime actions.

If you're moving to Charlotte, e-mail your question to: taxmeck@mecklenburgcountync.gov

I tried looking on their site, but I didn't see any property tax tables for vehicles -- only homes and land.

Good Luck!

Then I'm confused. Then do you pay a property tax on your car?

yes but not right off the bat once you register your car . Property taxes are done by county or city that you reside not the state and they vary that is why you will not find the info on the state dmv website.
Same tax rate for your home, boat, trailer

Driver License Fees under step 3 NCDOT Division of Motor Vehicles: Applying for a Driver License or Learner Permit?

Registering Car Fees
NCDOT Division of Motor Vehicles: How do I title & register a vehicle?
also under step 3

In about 3 months you will be billed in the county you reside a property tax bill and this is a annual bill.

There are a lot more than just 3 taxes in Charlotte. One radio station pokes fun at us calling us "The taxation capitol of the world".

There is a grocery tax, a food service tax (for the convention center), a house property tax that is broken up into county and city, a one time use tax on your vehicle when you register it, then an annual property tax on your vehicle imposed by the county (depending on the county).

I'm not a tax expert, so anyone please feel free to correct or add to this list, but there are definitely more than 3 taxes. With all these taxes though, cost of living is still low - (in my opinion).
