You might want to see the rural country side of North Carolina due to race traffic this weekend or navigate a way that avoids the Concord area. Highway 49 to Highway 64 is a gorgeous ride. Due to this is not a tourist destination city and many people either hit the lake or beach local traffic beside the race area is rather calm around the holidays.

However avoid leaving after 5 on Friday's the highway's are back up especially heading in south direction.

If you're going to Raleigh, I'd take Hwy 64. Unless you're traveling at night, I would avoid 77 and 85. If you're leaving on Friday, leave by 3pm at the latest. Any later and you'll probably hit 3 city's worth of rush hour traffic:

Charlotte, Greensboro, and Raleigh.
