Jewish life in Charlotte
I am planning to relocate my family to Charlotte. We would like to find a public school system that has some Jewish life. We are in the upper price bracket for homes but would still like to have neighborhood life where the kids can ride bikes and go to a town center. I am really unfamiliar with Charlotte and would appreciate any guidance for a Jewish family that also appreciates some diversity.

we are jewish as well however we live in Union County, excellent schools some jewish people but not a tremendous amount. We chose Union because of the schools, as we have a elem dd but is in private school, and my son is 13 and in 7th grade (middle) and we just LOVE the schools in our area...Marvin/Waxhaw is beautiful as well, which is where we live..there is also Piper Glen Estates, located in South Charlotte. you can check out as well, its about 10-15 min to JCC.. You can start looking at carolinahome.com and start with Myers Park, South Park and Carmel.....I have an awesome realtor who is also jewish and is involved with the community and has been living here long enough to point you in the right direction. If interested pls DM me
If you plan to be involved with the temples you can look also near the JCC..My daughter attends the Charlotte Jewish Day School, and most of the kids live in those area's I mentioned.
Good Luck

I'm not jewish myself but I do know of a pretty large Jewish area. I would look in the Landsdowne neighborhood. It is an established area near inner city Charlotte. It is located near Providence Rd. I believe there is a temple located nearby. Good Luck.

Hi ! Iam orginally from Pittsburgh which has areas that have high areas of Jewish people. I then moved to Sfla It was the same. Jewish life and Jewish people all around you. I love Charlotte and my family is happy here. We would live no where else, but I must tell you that there is really not one area like in NY or other areas that I have mentioned that Jewish people live. We all convene and meet at the temple or the Jcc which are wonderful. My son does have including himself 5 boys that are Jewish, but he is as he says the only wholy one lol. I suggest as berryjuice said to get a Jewish realtor and start there but there are some really nice areas around Union county do not forgo one becuase of the lack of Jewish population. Weddington Chase is lovely and so is bridlestone. Have a look and PM me if you have any questions. Oh and do not forget to tell your extended family that when they visit they must come with bagels there are not many good ones here lol. Welcome to Charlotte. It is a beautiful city.

Watch commute times from Union County to the JCC. 15 minutes is when there is no traffic.

Count one more Jewish family moving to Union County. We arrive mid-June and are moving into Chimneys of Marvin. My kids (ages 5 and 9) are already signed up for summer camp at the JCC. I have heard great things about it. My parents live in Weddington Chase and coincidentally, their neighbors are also Jewish. Good luck with your search!
