Sorry for the completely different topic..
Looking for information on companies or websites that sell extended warranty for Electronics-Specifically Big Screen TVs, 52 inch LCD.
Did any one purchase this extended warranty separately right after buying the TV?

Extended warranties are not generally worth the paper they are written on. When one purchases a car, T.V., or whatever, they come with a warranty. The extended warranty does not generally begin at the expiration of the factory warranty that comes with the product. If you buy the extended warranty at the time of purchase, you are only covering what is already covered in most cases beginning with the day of purchase.

Exactly, so when you buy a two year warranty for a TV, the first year is covered by the manufacturer. So you're really covered for only one extra year. We bought a warranty on our TV from Best Buy, but only because they cover bulbs going out and we got a crazy deal to begin with on Black Friday. I'm hoping the bulb goes out before November. = )

hey,

you guys are right, there is no point in taking extended warratny when the appliance is already covered with the manufacturer warranty. But after expiration of that period, extended warranties will surely help you save some hard earned money. I got it from consumer priority service on my dishwasher and Tv. Extended warranty certainly saved my few dollars on repairing charges. Consumer prioirty service provide better deals available in the market.

This might of be some help to you guys :

They are a waste of money.
Spend the money you would use on the warranty and buy a reliable brand of TV.

I never buy them but did on my big screen tv because the bulb wears out after 4 years and the cost is higher than that of the warranty.

A guy at Sears once told me that when they sell an extended warranty, they get almost 100 percent commission off of it.

hmmm, two people espousing extended warranties on their first (or second) posts. How fishy.

The salespeople & company definitely love the extended warranties since they are rarely used. I find it unbelievable that people will add 25% (or more) to the price of their purchase for these things.
