Default Weather, Bugs, Hurricanes

Was talking to someone in the Colorado part of the Forum and they told us that Charlotte has high humidity in the summer months.....is that true and how bad is it???
They also told us that bugs are also a problem. Is that true?
Also, Charlotte doesn't actually get hurricanes.....right? But, it does get the
severe t-storms when a hurricane hits the coast....right?
We are giving it very serious thought about moving from the Denver area to Charlotte sometime later this year. Just can't handle the kind of winters they can get here, anymore. Been here for almost 5 years.
Information requested, please.
Thanks

The humidity can get real "sticky" here. You learn to cope.

We have spiders etc but IMO nothing to bad.

We had a good one back in 89 but this is against the norm .But, it does get the
severe t-storms when a hurricane hits the coast
We have some good thunderstorms but they normally happen in the evening as the day ends. Nothing to be to concerned about

The average relative humidity does not vary greatly from season to season but is generally the highest in winter and lowest in spring. The lowest relative humidities are found over the southern Piedmont, where the year around average is about 65 percent. The highest are along the immediate coast, averaging around 75 percent. The least amount of actual moisture is found in the higher mountain areas, but the lower temperatures there result in relative humidities that are about the same as elsewhere in the State.

Tropical hurricanes come close enough to influence North Carolina weather about twice in an average year. Much less frequently, perhaps averaging once in 10 years, these storms strike a part of the State with sufficient force to do much damage to inland property. Coastal properties occasionally suffer severe damage from associated high tides.

NC has very humid/hot summers. Anyone living here can attest to that. I dont know how much this differentiates from Colorado weather.

We tend to get tropical systems more from the Gulf Coast rather than storms striking the NC coast directly. One issue with tropical systems traveling from the Gulf Coast is that the storms wind speed is greatly lessened, but carry alot of rain. Also tropical systems produce quite a few tornadoes after making landfall.

Ofcourse you have your typical storms in spring and summer. Anyone remember the hail storm last year in the Lake Norman area?

NC is has terrible weather in my opinion. I lived in Chicago and I've never had any allergies until I came here. Had my 1st sinus infection also. Mold and stuff growing on houses. Have to clean with bleach water. Summers I cannot enjoy my deck becuase it's unbearable. From May to about October/November it's hot, and more hot. Just recently we had almost 70 degree weather!! I;m still killing mosquitoes now!! People or I should say locals keep to themselves. I have not made any friends in 7 years. I am moving out thank God! If you're looking for tight knit close friendships, you'll probably be disappointed.

At least this is more than 10 feet above sea level! Liek some parts of coastal SC! I haven't seen many mosquitoes at all..thank gosh! I don't think it is bad at all but I am not one for the midwest with their tornadoes etc...my allergies got bad in VA, I think it just the east coast in general.

Its the South it is supposed to be warm

Sorry you do not like it here. Lincolnton is a little more rural though than say the Huntersville area. Probably more chance of natives.

Let me know if your interested in listing your home
