I live in Concord, but right on the edge of Huntersville. I live in Winding Walk. I don't think this area is bad and the schools that our neighborhood filter into are really good.

I just read that there are alot of medical jobs in this area. CMC-NE isn't far and CMC main is in the Univeristy area 20 minutes away.

We are also off of Poplar Tent and don't have to deal with any race traffic either.

In looking at the Concord area via GoogleEarth (considering moving to the area in the near future) and one thing that sticks out. I don't see many backyard pools? Is there a reason for this like very restritctive HOA's? Tough city ordinances? Or are they just not that popular?

I am from NYC and I also live in Concord in Fullerton Place on Poplar Tent. I have to say that its a great place to raise kids (I have 4 kids) and the schools are very good. As for race traffic, there isn't much of that around here...Love it here...Make sure you secure a job before moving

One of the things I had to adjust to here (came from northern California) was the fact that the water gets so warm during the summer I just don't want to swim much - and I've always been a "fish". But it just isn't my thing to still be sweating while swimming.

Thanks. I'm planning the move from South Florida where it gets quite warm too in the summer and backyard pools are very popular with some getting usage pretty much year round.

Most people don't want to maintain them & trying to get anyone to service them can be a nightmare.

I am considering moving to Concord, I am originally from New York and have been livingin Pinehurst for 4ys. I would like to know more about the high schools, and the area of Concord they are in. I was doing some research on Cox, which I understand is a new school. I was wondering is there a area of Concord that I should not move to? My next question is what town would you recommend if I had to pick a second option to live near Concord?

Not to mention that by late July you're swimming in soup.
