We are considering moving from Charleston, SC to the Concord, NC area. Can anyone tell how they feel about this area...schools, cost of living, community etc....Thanks

May I ask--why are you "considering" moving?

Husband is looking into a job in the area. We haven't been in Charleston long and aren't thrilled with the school systems

Curious why there are no positive replies to this thread. DH just suggested that we rent in Concord.

It's probably just because there aren't a lot of posters reading who actually live in Concord that's all. Concord is a nice little place! Schools are good and the high school is the state AA football champs The only drawback is if you aren't a NASCAR fan you need to know you are moving into the home of the speedway (which I think currently holds over 105,000 people). So, a few times a year there are issues like traffic to deal with on race weekends if you live near the track. Other than that, you should not be afraid to move there!

Default I live in Concord!

I live in Concord & moved here from NJ. After researching the areas, my husband & I determined that the taxes were lower than Mecklenburg County, and the schools are supposed to be better. Don't know if it's true, as we don't have children & nothing to compare to, but that is what I heard & read through various sources. One website I used in my research was greatschools.net.

One more thing, we live on poplar tent road (Skybrook north) on the Hunterville border, and we are not really affected by the race traffic. There was just a big race a couple of weeks ago, and as long as we avoided I-85 or 77, the roads were ok.

Hope this helped & good luck!

I live in Concord and have 2 children in Odell Elementary school. We moved down from NJ about 2 years ago and we are very pleased with the school, the teachers, administration, and cirriculum. There is so much parental involvement it is wonderful. The taxes are less and the schools are better (then some, not all) in Mecklenburg. As far as the race traffic, I find that to be nonexistent. We are not far from the Speedway (off Rt. 73) and it doesn't even affect us. If you have any more specific questions feel free to ask!!

Same here, I live less then 5 minutes from the track and have never had a problem with the traffic, even during the heaviest times.

I'm living in Concord and really like it. The traffic seems to flow nicely. I'm off Popular Tent Rd and that road can get pretty busy.
