My partner and I are relocating to Charlotte. He's there now scouting out housing options. He likes Southpark area. Reminds him of where we live in Michigan... Is this a good place for a gay male couple to live, and are there other locations for us to consider?

There is no segregation in Charlotte except by income. That is a popular area and you will do fine.

I agree with Sunny, you will find Southpark to be very tolerable. I say "tolerance" because this is still the bible belt. No one will confront or bother you--does not mean they agree with you. The great thing is the bible teach acceptance, so many are kinder and tolerable of your life style. I find that Charlotte as a whole to be very kind and very understanding. You will fit in anywhere in Charlotte--good luck to you and your mate.

The SP area is a great place to live and you should not only enjoy living there, I seriously doubt anyone will give you a hassle . . . I am a bit south of SP and we have several gay couples here in our neighborhood . . . good neighbors are just that - good neighbors - and will be accepted just like any other family . . . we are more progressive here in CLT than we get credit for . . . come on down . . . I think you will like it here.

Thank you stennant and anifani821 and the others. My partner's impressed with how friendly everyone is... especially customer service. I'll be down there with him next month to do some serious house hunting and find a job.

I'm pretty sure there is an older Gay couple in my neighborhood too. Still trying to figure it out. Lol. Anyways, it's no big deal as long as you're a good neighbor IMO!
