Default Commute from Mooresville to University area

A friend has asked me about this commute . . . and I really don't know what to advise. My sister lives in M'ville but BIL's commute is not back into CLT.

Can anyone advise as to time and any secondary routes one would use to avoid back ups during rush hour?

The fastest way down to UC would probably be to take NC-3 (Mooresville Hwy) to Odell School Rd, then take Poplar Tent to I-85 and come on down. Just tell him to be sure and avoid 77 at all costs!

Disclaimer: I don't commute from Mooresville, but I have friends who live up that way. Whenever we go to visit them we take Odell School to Mooresville Hwy and it's a breeze.

I live in Mooresville, right where 150 and 152 meet, and I work at the University. I go exactly how DBGNCSU05 says, and it does take about 35-40 mins. depending on traffic. I leave for work at 6AM so there is no traffic, coming home at 3:30 I-85 backs up alittle at Concord Mills exit, but not usually too bad except for Fridays, then you have to avoid 85 and take the back roads all the way.
