Question Property Taxes

Hi - We are relocating to NC within 3-6 months and I was wondering how much property taxes are. Let say the house was $200K on a 1/4 acre? Currently I live on Martha's Vineyard where our taxes are low...unbelievable right, but they are. We have a 5 bedroom home on a 1/4 acre and our annual proprey taxes are $1,600.00 per year. When we lived in Carmel NY on 1/2 acre our taxes were $7,900.00 per year. We are thinking of moving to Union County, York County or Lancaster and just were wondering if the taxes were comparable to what we are paying now. Also, and information on Subdivisions in the $200K range, with community pool and level small lot would be very helpful....any ideas? family of 6 adults ranging from 20 - 58. Thanks in advance for any help.

Your taxes would be around 2k in union county depending on what city you lived in.

The 2006-2007 property tax rate for Union County is 0.6367 per $100 of assessed value. An additional tax rate for those living within the borders of taxable city, town or special district.
