New Time Warner Custmer - getting set up
Has anyone moving into the area and purchasing a house had an issue with getting Time Warner to accept your request for installation in advanced? I ordered services online and got a message back stating that I was not the current account holder at the address and therefor could not order sevice. They stated that if I was the new resident, I would have to stop into a local office and show proof. This is tough to do from 800 miles away though.
I need internet access immediatly upon closing on the house as I will be working from home.
Any thoughts?
Thank you.

I would call the 800 number and speak to a supervisor. I'm sure they've had this situation before and can tell you how it is handled. Time Warner is not very well known for their customer service, so be patient with them.

You'll learn that TWC is very difficult to work with. Just in the past 2 weeks they mistakenly disconnected our cable and hooked it up to our neighbors. I took them 3 days to come out to fix it. Then Friday when they were burying the neighbors line, they cut our phone line. Direct TV here we come!

You should be able to fax them whatever proof they need. Ideally the person who you are buying from should already have service disconected before your move in date to make it easier.

I would think showing a copy of the sales contract would be enough proof. Also, I know my experience with Comcast in Baltimore was such that they would not even entertain a request until they had a record of the disconnect request from the previous owner of the house.

You could go with that new clearwire while you are waiting. I think that is the name of it.

Just wondering if the good price for phone/internet/cable from TWC is worth putting up w/ poor customer service. I am also looking for a company for all three services for when I move into my home. Are there any others?

Good luck with time warner. I used to have Comcast up in Boston and they were actually pretty good. I have had nothing but troubles with TWC down here. Get the Dish. Almost everyone in my neighborhood has one for good reason
