Does anyone know a place that hires 14 year olds? My son is turning 14 soon, and I can't wait for that eye-opening first job. I remember getting a job at a fast food restaurant, but I don't remember how old I was. My very first job was as a summer school teacher's assistant at 14. Ah, the joy of that first paycheck....

My first job was at the library shelving books (at the age of 14), this was in NY though. Maybe the age requirement is the same out here. I remember it being a very boring job but I met some great people.

In NC a teenager has to get a work permit to be able to apply for a job (get the app thru the school guidance counselor). They have to be 15 - by law no business can hire anyone under 15, and many won't hire until they are 16. Chick Fil A is one of those that will hire 15 year olds, just so you know. For the under 15 crowd there is always babysitting and lawn cutting

Loves has got it. You have to be 15 in NC to work. Cutting lawns and babysitting is about it. Unless you can find a farm somewhere that needs help.

Chick Fil A in Cotswold had a bunch of 14 year olds working last summer. I think it is a great idea.
