I shopped the IKEA in the DC area years(like 15 or so) ago and I still use some of the items I bought there. Yeah the burgandy washcloths I bought still bleed every time they get wet!!! I look forward to going in a few weeks! I love euro-style anything so I should be able to find something to suit me!

When is the new IKEA scheduled to open in Charlotte? I've bought several household items in the Stoughton MA store, and of course we have dined on the cinnamon buns. Real Swedish buns they are not, but I'll settle for them! They also carry some hard to find breads. I always loved Swedish Rye. It is absolutely yummy and unlike any other rye bread you've ever had.

I grew up in a city with a good-sized Swedish population and a wonderful Swedish bakery down in our section of town.

Next Wednesday, Feb 18th.

When I lived in CA and my brother and sister in law from Charlotte would come visit we always had to go to Ikea. I did buy 2 throw rugs and a kitchen pitcher that I still have and like.

I might go Thursday night. We need to get some storage stuff (cabinets) and I didn't want to battle the lookie-loos. I think we'll see what the news says about the mobs after Wednesday. My one gripe about IKEA is the carts. They'll great to use if you don't have much stuff, but loaded up with couches and cabinets, they are impossible to control.

I share your sentiment. I am glad I have house full of Thomasville Furniture before they closed most of there plants .
I enjoy the sturdy design of my furniture, How the drawers use tongue and grove in design. Real wood not some stain to make it look like something it not. The claw like feet and the detail.

Each IKEA store has 10,000 products. They don't just sell furniture but also inexpensive home decor, rugs, bedding, kitchen ware, lighting etc. They even have stuff for dogs. Almost the entire marketplace (the bottom floor) is non-furniture items. Then there is the full restaurant, with a popular 99¢ breakfast, cafe and swedish market place.

I'm excited about the opening but I think I'll wait a few weeks until I venture out.

Love, love, love my Thomasville bedroom set. My brother in law still cusses me out for how heavy the bed frame was that he had to help move upstairs. It's a huge king mantle bed and solid. Thank goodness the other pieces I bought here and the delivery men moved them. The dresser is so heavy I can hardly budge it.
