Does anyone have any specific areas they would look/avoid in the areas listed. We are looking for a modern floor plan and looking to spend below $150,000. We'd like to be as far away from things as we can, without actually being away from it. A 30 minute drive to a mall is fine, but 30 min for groceries/gas isn't. We also have a toddler so planning in a safe/good school area is of the upmost importance. I know our parameters are rather broad so I don't expect to much specific information. Just any general ideas or guidance would be appreciated.

I would also add China Grove to the list of options. Lots of rural areas but convenient to interstate 85 and close to Mooresville or Kannapolis or even Salisbury. Nice little town. Homes that will fit your budget and good schools.

The above mentioned towns are great options but be warned that there isnt much shopping, entertainment etc. Since you did mention that you want to be far away from things, than these towns should fit your taste

Check out Clover, SC.

Welcome to Clover, South Carolina!

Pineville mall would be 1/2 hour, you are close to Lake Wylie and they have low taxes. You should be able to find a decent home in your price range,
