Thanx, Barking!!! The little generator I have is one that charges up and holds a charge (I guess like a battery?) So I don't think we will have to make a gas or kerosene run.
I will tell you one thing this has brought to mind. I usually keep a well stocked pantry but I am going to stock up even more stuff. What if we had a power outage city wide or even for just our area for a long time? I am going to thoroughly inventory my pantry and make sure I have a good stock of canned goods and dried stuff. I went through Hurricane Hugo - w/o power for 8 days,. Now that is not at as bad as what Scotsman went through (cannot imagine 2 weeks - that just sounds horrific). But 8 days w/ children - it was NOT a good thing. Every so often, I need to be reminded to keep that pantry stocked.
And thanks again, Barking!!!

Ani, If you have to go out, if you are near a DollarTree, run in & grab some hand sanitizer. When you get home use it with paper towels to wipe yourself down. It will cool you down a lot.

WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank God and Duke Power . . . my electricity is back on!!!!!
HOORAY!!!!
We just re-set the A/C. Now my downstairs unit has not been working right for over a week, but I have an appt. w/ the heatpump tech for Monday. But heck, I don't even care right now!!! Cooling it down to even 78 d would be okay w/ me.
HOORAY!!!!!!!! Re-set router, plugged up my Mac . . . gonna grab myself a nice glass of Iced tea (I am out of lemons, darn it!!!!) . . . and gonna hop in the shower!!!!
Ya'll have kept my mind off the heat!!!! And I now have back up plans. Gonna get that big generator - might need it this winter . . . gonna stock up my pantry . . . And it won't take up much space, so I am gonna keep a face towel wrapped up in a ziplock bag IN MY FREEZER!!! At least that would chill me down for a while if this happens again!!! Or I could use it under a towel for Miss Scarlett to lounge on. Poor thing. She is standing over a vent right now, ROFL!!!!!!
And, DH called his regional office and they told him he could always come in and work there. So in the future, he can cut out of here and head over there and stay cool. He was getting ready to head out. He managed to drain the hot water w/ his shower - I told him to use it so he could get cleaned up to go to the office. Now, I can take mine. I am gonna be awfully glad to take that shower, LOL!!!!!
Appreciate you all holding my hand and listening to me whine!!!! At least we have some plans for handling this better if it happens again. I am just keeping my fingers crossed this transformer does not blow!!!! Such a mystery . . .
<letting our rebel yell!!> Air conditioning is the greatest invention of all!!!!!!!!!!!!

ANI, you poor thing!! Just got to read the whole thread - what a day you've had already. So glad to know Duke Power has you up and running now!
For future reference, anyone who loses their power should call 1-800-POWER ON.
Go take a cold shower or something!!

Thanks, Loves! Took a lukewarm shower. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh
I am going to write down 1-800-POWER ON. I could not remember it last nite to save my life!!! DH does not clutter his brain w/ that kind of thing, HA HA HA (The truth is - he is the classic Absent Minded Professor type - he relies on me to remember that stuff). So he was looking at me and I was feeling STUPID!!!! I kept thinking - is it 1-800 LITES OUT. or 1-800 HELP ME. LOL!!!!!! So I am gonna write it down and put it inside my cabinet door above the kitchen desk. That is where I put all those types of numbers (when I think to do it). I use return labels and stick them inside the cabinet door. Yeah, it looks kinda goofy but that way I know where emergency #s always are . . .
The A/C feels sooooooooo good!!!!!!!!!
