How about that "mountain" over in Denver, just north of Hwy's 16 & 150? You can see it from I-77 when you're crossing the lake. It's the big hill with the towers out in the distance. You can punch up Tower Road on a map program.

We've been up there geocaching and there's a nice view of the Charlotte skyline from there. Not sure about sunsets.

Also, there aren't any picnic tables or facilities (other than the radio / cell towers) and the area is mostly wooded. But it may be worth taking a ride up there during the daylight to check out and see if it's a sunset option.

How about a hot air balloon ride. Pretty pricey though. I'm no sure where any are down there but where I live now they fill the sky on beautiful evenings.

Thanks for the large response everyone!

I found that the Latta Plantation Nature Preserve trumpets their wonderful views of Mountain Island Lake. It's not a mountain, but since it is about 15 miles from us, I think we'll check it out first. Maybe we'll try Morrow Mountain at a later date! Thanks again.
