I too want some cuban food, real cuban food. I also miss picking up a fresh cuban bread and pastelitos.

If you don't mind me asking, what's the major difference in the cuisine? I know there has to be one, just not in what way. That, and there wouldn't be any specific requests for it, if there weren't.

This piqued my interest. It's never really crossed my mind, and I'm always down for new food.

I have been doing that for my Cuban Wife in prep for moving here from a Hispanic area (SoFla). While she enjoys my efforts, it still is not the same because of the lack of authentic ingredients. Back in Florida, I could go to the grocery store and pick up Sofrito, Chorizo, tostones, etc. She is doing OK so far, and will be visiting back home next week and will bring me a care package of ingredients. What we both miss is our traditional Sunday AM breakfast of Cuban bread, pasteles and chorizo scrambled eggs. We used to go to Publix and pick up fresh bread anytime we wanted, and here we cant do that.

I know this Cuban restaurant is in the opposite direction you're looking but a coworker of my husband highly recommended this place. We haven't had a chance to go yet but it has great reviews.

Mike-I brought up tons of stuff from Miami before my move. I can always have the MIL send me a care package also. Tostones aren't hard to make. I've done them here and they were pretty yummy.
