I actually stumbled across kecap manis at a Big Lots or something like that one time and thought to myself, "Hmm, that looks good." At the time, I didn't know what it was because it was labeled as "Asian BBQ," but at the bottom of the bottle it said "Indonesian soy sauce." I looked up the real name for it. I recently used it all, so I needed some more. Here is a fantastic recipe that I use it in:

I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest where there is a large(r) Asian population from many, many different countries, so I got to eat at the restaurants often. There is a restaurant in Seattle called Salima's that cooks Malaysian food that is to die for!
Dinner chez toi? You sound like you would be able to cook up some goodies!
I wish I would find some at the Big Lots
, I'd probably buy up a whole bunch. You know I am now going to keep a close eye on that. Dinner anytime, however, if you ask for recipes, I am one of those, 'a pinch of this and a bit of that' kinda cook. I'd never be able to give exact measurements..lol..
