Wait....are you saying that Hellman's is not sold in the Charlotte area???? I might have to reconsider this whole relocation thing!!!

There are Cracker Barrels all over New England. I love me some chicken fried steak.

As for BBQ, that is one, smaller, reason we are making the move. We need the real deal! I am saving up to get a nice, authentic smoker for myself, the kind you can hook up to the hitch and take with you. My son's school had a "BBQ" for the end of school fun day a few weeks ago. They offered different kinds of salads only! That is still confusing me

It's called Southern Supreme.Check out their website at Southern Supreme It is owned and operated by the Scott family. Also anyone who loves country ham,Alexander's in Mooresville is the absolute best! I buy the center cuts by the case. They are good grilled!

Ani, where do you buy molasses? It's hard to find real black strap molasses, like the old timey mountain folks used to make. Have you ever seen this done? It's really amazing and labor intensive.
I buy mine at the Mast Store in Valle Crucis, wh/ is one of my favorite spots.

GLORY BEE FOODS Molasses - Sweet Unsulphered

I had family members who made molasses, but my favorite spot is at Sim's BBQ. One of the family members is a friend of mine, and I highly recommend Sim's as a place to go - not only for terrific BBQ, but for a glimpse into Southern Folklore and Americana. They have a Molasses Festival! This is a wonderful outing for the family - and a way to expose your kids to some Southern history . . .

For the record: I LOVE FRUITCAKE!!!!!

So true. WHen I moved to the midwest, I had to give up the "cookout" terminology b/c there they say "going to grill" or "gonna fix some Q." People looked at me like I had said something in a foreign language when I said "cook out." That is a phrase reserved for, perhaps, camping and setting up an outdoor stove, LOL!!!!

If you like good BBQ Sauce, go to Lowes Foods and pick up some Uncle Yammy's Grillin Sauce. It's the dreamiest!!! It's sweet with a little bit of bite. A guy I used to do business with makes it here in NC. You'll have to look a little for it since he doesn't have the slotting $$ that the others do, but it's there.

You'll love it, trust me!!!

Yep, it kills me at the supermarket to see something labeled as a cheese or meat product. I have no idea what that really means. Kind of like meat or cheese?
