If you want to have less walking to nightlife most of it occurs around the epicentre on College St and Trade and also around College St and 7th St.
Groceries will be limited and shopping you will need to go to suburbs for most of it.
Thanks for the tip. Are there any apartments around the "nightlife epicentre?" I didn't really see any places that were highly spoken of around those streets

Also - according to an ad for Post-Uptown apartments, it said it was 1.5 blocks from Harris Teeter - so that would take care of my grocery needs

There is a Camden there as well. The apt's you have mentioned are good choices. Just thought I would want to throw that out there since you had not mentioned it. I personally love Dilworth as well. I am living in South Park now and plan on heading to either Dilworth or South End when my lease is up. In Dilworth if you are near East Blvd you are within walking distance to Big Daddy's Burgers, Plan B restaurant, Cantina 1511(my favorite restaurant!), a Starbucks, a Caribou Coffee, Outback, Brixx, Harris Teeter, Picasso's(a bar), 131 Main(restaurant) etc. Short drive to Uptown, etc. I realized I have a lot to say on this because I am helping my friend find a place...I sent you a PM.
Hmmm - that certainly sounds like something to look into. Are apartments less expensive in Dilworth or South Ends?

I never received your PM though

All of the information of this tread has been extremely helpful to me. I will be moving to Charlotte in May (I have already secured a job) and I am interested in renting in uptown. The private condos, like 5th and Poplar, seem very nice, but I am unsure how to secure one. Is craigslist my only option or is there a service/website that will be helpful in my search? Thanks!

Craigs List can be a good tool for finding places to rent from individual condo owners for sure. Just don't ever send anyone any money upfront without seeing a place first, there are more and more scams on Craigs List happening all the time.

You could also try a rental company to help you in finding something - they deal in homes, apartments and condo's. Some of the bigger ones in town are TR Lawing and Meca. Best of luck to you, and congrats on that new job!!!
