Diner(s) in Charlotte??
Hello all! Awhile back on this forum, there was a post about northerners invading Charlotte (what else is new.. it's a common thread) and how there was even a diner opening soon somewhere, does anyone know about it? Or where it is? I'd love to see if it's the "real deal" =] being a New Yorker myself! But you know, like they say, it's the water in NY that makes the food amazing, so I don't know if a diner in Charlotte could ever compare.. even if run by NYers.... but i'd give it a whirl! Me and the husband and pooch are moving to Charlotte this thursday, so we're ready to get crackin on all new places to eat =]

It is going to be on the corner of 521 and Ardrey Kell in the Ballantyne area (the new Harris Teeter Shopping Center). There is a "coming soon Bayview Diner" sign up now. However, construction has not started on it yet.

I think we need a 24hr diner downtown. Just my opinion as an alcoholic haha.
Disclaimer: I know alcoholism isn't a joke, yada yada.
Phew, now that's out of the way.

I spoke to one of the owners of the new Big View Diner the other day. They've started construction -- or at least grading, etc -- and they plan to open "around the beginning of the year." It's going to be big, will feature fresh baked goods and apparently lots of TVs with sports and kid-friendly stuff. My friend is a new dad and is dedicated to making it kid-friendly. Now, it's a new place and these are trendy restauranteurs/chefs so it won't be a "typical NY/NJ Greek diner." But it won't be theme restaurant either. I think it will be great. I just hope they can keep the prices in line and be successful.
