Im going to be moving to charlotte in a few months and was wondering if there are any recreational leagues for adults around. Either ice hockey or roller hockey. Thanks!

There are several leagues, ice, roller and deck hockey for adults. I will try to find some links when I get a moment. You also have the ECHL Checkers that play at Bobcats arena.

There is a place on Harris Blvd called Charlotte Sports Center:

Charlotte Sports Center - Soccer, Basketball, Inline Hockey, Volleyball, Flag Football, Fitness & more

that has roller hockey. Haven't played there yet but I saw the rink, not bad.

Right now, Huntersville is the only game in town for Roller Hockey. Its called The Charlotte Sports Center and its on Harris Blvd. The Morrisson Family YMCA is building a rink for Roller Hockey as we speak in Ballantyne. I think its goingto be outdoors tho, which Im not real keen on.

Ice Hockey, Pineville has a large Adult Hockey League. The rink is old and beat up, but its a decent group. Indian Trail Extreme Ice Center is beautiful and new. Has 2 rinks but not certain about adult leagues there.

Go Rangers!

I had heard that someone was planning to put an ice rink in the Mooresville area a couple of years ago, but that never developed. Seems to me that a sheet of ice could easily work in Big Mo' for public skating, figure skating, and ice hockey. Anyone know the scoop on why the proposal didn't fly?
