I am also in school to become a paralegal. I am also a mortgage underwriter by trade. Our neighbourhood has issues, no doubt, but, no real need for panic. I agree, we all have to work together. Have you contacted Johnny White? He is your HOA president. Now, he is sometimes a bit hard to get ahold of, but, he is very passionate about the crime situation there. In fact, he just e-mailed me a couple of days ago about some break-ins (possibly yours) and asking about a car that was associated with it that resembled a car that one of the thugs that used to live in my neighbourhood used to drive. We are fortunate in that we have been able to force our thugs out due to the high pressure that we put on them by continually calling 911/311 as I mentioned in a previous post. Unfortunately, it appears that they did not move far...possibly to your area.

But, now is the time to contact the folks that I have recommended to you. The police officers will let you know if a crime watch exists and, if not, how you can start one. There is an annual meeting coming up soon that Johnny will lay out some crime prevention tips. Please try to use this energy to make the neighbourhood better and not drag it down. We really have a fantastic location here. Our property values have the potential to go through the roof if we rid the area of the crapola and rejuvenate the area. There are many areas in Charlotte that had much worse crime stats that are now practically upscale! So, it is up to US, the residents to embrace the change (church) and move forward in doing out part to make this a better place. I KNOW that Johnny would LOVE to have your help...he has been fighting this battle on his own for a long time. Please contact him!!
I will be happy to work with him and also the last link was a robbery in charlotte from a church. I found this thread because it was someone looking to see if Faires Farms was a nice place. I would never want someone to be blind sighted the way i was by the not as old homes and the cheaper prices and end up here and scared as I have to live. I would not recommend this neighborhood to any person looking for a safe environment to raise their children. No matter the thugs there is still the apartments across the road that are section 8 and that brings our community the crime as well, that is quoted from the police. Also the officer I spoke to at my home said that this is an area that is constantly targeted for burglary and has been for a while now. For the fact of what the thread was stared for I do want any persons thinking about coming to live in Faires Farms to know that it is surely is no bed of roses by far and that the crime rate is only rising by the day. I will contact him, thank you.

Your situation is exactly why each buyer MUST do their due diligence when decided on a neighborhood to live in. Crime can happen anywhere these days, but buying into certain areas will make you more likely to be a victim. I am sorry for your trouble and wish someone had been able to help you better before you bought your home.

Yes thank you very much. You know it is against the code of ethics and against the law from what was told for the real estate agent to say whether the neighborhood is good or bad. I think to after seeing the stats here that maybe if the whole city came together to try and clean up this beautiful green city that there could really be big potential here. I mean coming from the DC area I have to tell you that it is absolutely beautiful here and if it was safe it would be paradise minus the beach lol. I would like to think on a larger scale than faires farms and see about what we can all do for the entirety. A lot of us are hard working citizens that would love to have the security of knowing we are safe and also knowing more people in the city to have resources in the event of trouble. Kind of old fashion but it worked then!

Hello Shannon,
I moved here form Pittsburgh Pa, I just want to say I am so so so sorry about what happened to you. Most of the response to your post are "crime happens everywhere" Most people will not and do not speak out until it happens to them. I have been in Charlotte 5 years and am now in a position to buy a home. I was ask where do I want to start looking? I said, 5 years ago I was in the FFarms area and it was beautiful. I had not been up there in 5 years the area has changed "just a little worn". By know means would I call it a dump but 5 years ago it was amazing. I was still at this point going to take the chance and buy my first home there. Your post has opend my eyes. I hope the residents can read your post and understand that you and your neighboor have got robbed! and if action is not taken now it will be one of them next or me, If I choose to purchase a home there. I just happen on this discussion sit because I was looking up ffarms to see what properties are for sale in that area. I have not given up on ffarms because it is in a great location and when riding through I can tell that a lot of the residents do still take pride in their property. But you have given me a lot to think about. I just hope you and everyone in the area come together and fix the problem. And I wish you the best. Where and when are the crimewatch meetings. To let everyone know which homes are being targeted so everyone can be on alart, and to keep everyone on the same page. maybe there should be a monthly flyer just crime realted and to get neighbors to get to know each other to watch out for each others homes or any suspicious activity. I can't believe that when these homes are being broken in to know one hears or see nothing.

Unfortunately - many of you do not even attend the meetings that the Creekview/Pierpoint HOA has on the third Monday of every month. Wrong information is being relayed. The HOA is doing well - We currently have 7 HOAs within the Faires Farm division. Section 8 is in most communities - you just might not be aware of who is subscribing to it. I moved here in 2005 and yes there is crime - EVERYWHERE. I work in Southpark and I have seen and heard of breakins, robberies, assaults - we just don't hear it or it is not reported on TV because of the area! Neighborhoods are only as safe and in good standing if the homeowners are willing to be active in the HOA and not complain when something happens to them. We have 5 (FIVE) homeowners who are faithful and meet to try to do what's best for over 1000 homes. Mind you they are volunteers. What will you do to ensure we have the best neighborhood. I try to do my part by being vigilant and reporting anything strange in the area. I look out for my neighbors and joined the Neighborhood Association that Mr. Johnnie canvassed for homeowners to sighn up. My understanding is that there were not enough people to sign up for it to be totally effective. Also it was asked for us to sign up for the electronic newsletter and to forward information. It was on the website - www.fairesfarm.com

I am a resident of Faires Farms and used to be the president of the Meadows. The community has had its struggles, but it is definitely on the upswing now. The community police force has really stepped up to the plate and rid our neighbourhood of most (if not ALL) of the thugs. Just tonight, coming home from a night class, I saw a police officer parked on the side of Oren Thompson just watching who was coming & going.

We now have a Romanian Baptist Church being built where the decrepit clubhouse was. They are struggling keeping the grass cut consistently, but, I trust that once they are settled in, that will change.

We do have many foreclosures. But,as the homes are selling, new people are moving in with new found pride in their community and are making the home improvements and cosmetic repairs that will uplift the entire area. We also have street lights being installed by the city (in the Meadows) and, thankfully, McLean Rd (our one vital link to Old Concord Rd) is being widened.

So, please do not scratch off Faires Farms. Yes, we are a little worn and maybe a little battle-scarred. But, with a little love this community can come back stronger than ever. We have a fantastic location, the houses are decent and very reasonably priced. All we need is a few more homeowners who care to make things even better!!

PS: to the other poster, yes, Johnnie has been a tireless advocate of this neighbourhood. Any and all improvements to the front entrance and to those little subdivisions are directly the result of his efforts. Our entire community owes him a great debt.

I am a resident that lives in the faire farms community (Hill top at faires farms).I have been having issues with some of my neighbors who live around me playing their music too loudly. I'm not sure exactly what i should do or who i would need to speak with regarding this issue. I even had to call the police because my neighbors music was so loud, early one morning but the police never showed up.I'm frustrated becuse I don't know what exactly I can do in this situation. Can anyone please help? I would also like to be more involved in the community but there isn't much being communicated, there use to be news letters that came out to let you know what was happening but all communication seems to have stopped.

I believe that Johnny White is still the president there....DM me for his e-mail address. If not, he can direct you to who it is.

However, in the case of loud music, you have to call the police. Consistently. Often. (like every hour, using different phones, if possible) The people have until 11.00pm before the police will respond, however, between 11.00 am and morning hours, it is fair game. After awhile, they (the neighbours) will be fined and, that should make them stop.

Utilize our community police officers, too. They will help. If you see the guys sitting on the side of the road, stop and talk to them. They are working diligently to improve our community. Or, just stop at the police station which is over by the Hilton, I think. 8401 University Executive Park Drive #120, Charlotte NC 28262. Home

Tell them your concerns. I know that they will work to help you. These are great guys there!! They have really made a difference in our community.

hope this helps!!

We have always used 311 and made sure to make it an anonymous complaint. Then write down the complaint number and call back to follow up on it. They should be able to read you the report from the officer who went out. Also we have called at many different times and the officers have always come out, in fact they have even come out in the afternoon. Many times the outcome was that they did not hear the music, basically it took them so long to come out that the people were not playing the music anymore but they still got a knock on the door at least. Also make sure you do not give your name/number because if these people choose to they can get that info and you will have a mini war on your hands. Good luck to you.
