Info on Faires Farm Neighborhood???
Hello! My fiance and I are relocating from the Bristol, TN area to Charlotte in the (very) near future! We're hoping to find something that will offer us a lease-to-buy option until we sell our home in Bristol. I've seen a lot of neat houses in the Faires Farm neighborhood and was wondering if anyone could tell me more about the neighborhood? I really like that it seems to be an established neigborhood (not cookie cutter) with mature trees on the lots. It does concern me that there are a number of houses in the neighborhood for sale- can anyone comment on the safety of the area, the value or popularity of the neighborhood, etc. I'm hoping to work at UNCC so I think this is close to the University? We're young w/o kids but want a home we can grow into a little bit.
Any help would be much appreciated!

I had a few friends buy into there after graduating from UNCC. For their age group they haven't had any complaints. But I know a few of them still party like they're in college on the weekends. But from my experience that development is pretty huge and spread out.

we're looking between $150K and $200K, depending on whether we go townhouse or single family.

In that case, I'd like to recommend places like Monteith and Highland Park over Faires Farms

In the $150k - $200k price range, looking for unique architecture and some mature trees, I'd suggest Wellington and Cheshunt in the Mallard Creek area. It's still very accesible to UNCC, but a little newer and with less crime than the University Area. We looked at several houses in both neighborhoods before we found something else near Highland Creek. Still, there are many listings under $200k in both subdivisions that sound like they may fit your needs.
My take on Faires Farms is that it is a subdivision on the "decline".

LBIkid- we also found a home we really like in the Highland Park neighborhood, but it's unclear to me what subdivisions are considered a part of Highland Creek and what is simply near it. Are the amenities like golf, etc open to the public or restricted to residents of those communities?
