No, the marriage and family should come first. A house is what it is, a house. You can buy another house later, you can't buy another marriage.

Actually another option is to lower the price on the house even more and take a loss on it. No one wants to do that but I rather take out a small loan to get rid of the house than keep paying monthly payments on it, hoping to sell it.

Got it! I do agree.

But I believe her husband's employment is preventing them from moving back as a family. I really feel for her and the family. It's a terrible situation.

Your suggestion about taking the loss on the house is probably her best option at this time.

Maybe she should bring the kids back to NC, give up the apartment, let hubby get a room at a weekly rate somewhere, and immediately start sending out his resume to places here in Charlotte he can come back to work for. Meanwhile the kids are back in a more stable atmosphere, familiar surroundings, schools and the stress level can be toned down a bit.
