I had an inspector take a look at some of their houses currently under construction and some of the specs and he told me it was excellent quality. I was also very impressed with what they offer with their base package as far as cabinetry, flooring, molding, light fixtures, etc. Plus, they're offering $7,500 in upgrades and $3,000 off closing costs if you use their preferred lender.
Bk- if you use their preferred lender, are you still getting the lowest possible rate? I was also approached by saussy, use our lender, reieve $2500 off the closing.

The guy that owns Brentwood Homes also owns the mortgage company, so the interest rates were excellent. They blew away Countrywide, who I use now, as a preferred Saussy lender.

Do not just check the interest rate look at things like loan origination fee. Application fee etc. These sometimes can be through the roof.

I compared their fees to what Countrywide provided on their "guaranteed fees" good faith estimate, and they were comparable. Countrywide couldn't match the $3,000 off closing though.

Question-when we were down last week-we looked in huntersville, maybe an original area, with some old buldings, we were not succesful, do they exist?
Yes, Rosedale. They just started construction on the lots behind. I always wanted a flat lot but ended up with a slight drop off in the backyard. The lots behind us are perfectly flat and have nice sized backyards. Front yards are small but that's by design since it's a walking type community, can't remember what it's called but there's a name for the style and small front yards.

New construction pricing in our neighborhood seems to be going up but there were a couple of resales that are lower priced from phase 1 of the development.
