Real Estate Taxes Outside Charlotte?
Can anyone offer some accurate figures on what real estate taxes would be on a $1M home in the Pennisula development in Mecklenberg, The Pointe development in Iredell and Sailview development in Denver?
Thank you.

Or better yet....
Cornelius:-
The tax rate for Cornelius for 2006 is $.275 per $100 of assessed valuation. Mecklenburg County tax rate for 2006 is $.8189 per $100 of assessed valuation. Therefore; the combined tax rate Cornelius taxpayers pay is $1.0939 per $100 of assessed valuation. (This tax rate is not valid for unincorporated areas.)

Forgive me and please don't take this the wrong way, but if you can afford a 1M home, does it really matter what the taxes are.... I don't remember what the county tax rate is - pathetic, since I just ((choke)) paid them, but I think it's something like 0.45 / $100 valuation of the property. City tax is additional and I believe we're getting ready for another re-eval soon. Plus, check out the website per Charlotte A. above

I second that thanks. Great information to have. Do you (or anyone else) have similar links for Fort Mill, SC taxes? Thanks!

In South Carolina, property owners pay taxes based on millage rates and some exemptions, and there are also school taxes based on property value that vary by district.

Hope that helps a little

Thanks for your help. Just a heads up, though, the link takes you to York County, Virginia.
I gave it a shot via Google (should have thought of that earlier) and it looks like this link is close, as far as explaining things goes ... but it still isn't giving me a real answer.

I found a realtor site ages ago that helped me to figure it out. I know nothing about the realtor but I believe if I post it here it will just be deleted...so I will PM the info to you.

Fort Mill does offer exemptions on their taxes, and taxes are also cheaper if you don't live in the town itself (although you don't get some services by living in the township rather than the town).
Also, I think they just passed a resolution to eventually have school taxes removed from property taxes and increase the sales tax to cover education. So that'll reduce property taxes a bit in the future.
To give you an idea of what you might expect, I think we pay about $1,600/year in property taxes on our $260K house.
