Default Charter Schools in/near Charlotte

We have a friend moving here and wants to put her kids in the lotteries for various Charter Schools. This is what he has been told...

Lake Norman charter school: Tough academically and some VERY snobby and mean kids, but very safe and excellent foundation. Best for high achievers and athletes. Test score driven school (not about character or deep thinking).

Children's Community School and Charlotte Secondary School: Wonderful people, hands on learning...but not at all challenging in their academics. good for weaker students and non competitive families

Lincoln charter...good, middle of the road, school. good for average students

Any others and any thoughts on the information above? Their kids will be in
6th and 7th in 2009-10 and they will put in lottery application in the fall for NEXT year.
