Default Fourth of July in Waxhaw

Had you been in Waxhaw for the Fourth of July, you might have seen:

The Parade
JPG Magazine: Stories: Photo Essay: Small Town Freedom - Waxhaw, NC

The Fireworks
YouTube - Fireworks in Waxhaw

I was there for both and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The fireworks were nice. My only complaint was the cop afterwards who did not know how to direct traffic to get out of the shopping center we were parked in.

+1

Took over 45 minutes just to get out of the Food Lion Parking lot. But Hwy 16 was just about clear, and was completely clear by the time we go to Waxhaw Animal hospital. The cops were more than clueless, but there were way more people there than I've ever seen.

The fireworks though were pretty awesome.

Sounds like we should have had a City-Data meet-up in the Food Lion parking lot...LOL...'cause I was stuck there with you. (Was that YOU blowing your car horn??) It seemed like the traffic officers had blocked all but a few entrances and were trying to direct people in and out of those. Unfortunately, the crowd in the parking lot was clueless as to just which way to try to exit. Definitely needs work.

Seemed to me that one of the restaurants should have set up a patio party and entertained the captive audience. Definitely was a much bigger crowd there than last year.

We got stuck down between the Food Lion and Joe's Cafe, there was a big @ss RV sitting there making it hard for people to get out. We just sat on the tail gate and people watched until things lightened up. The horn blowing thing was pretty funny. I also saw this dude in a Red Sox cap making a total be-hind of himself ranting about how he couldn't get out. The whole time his big ol' SUV was idling there with the A/C on and all 4 windows down. Probably cost him $75.00 just to sit there for as long as he did. Ahhh those transplants...ya just gotta love'm purely for the entertainment value.

Jlat, we must have been standing in sight of each other, because I saw the RV and I heard someone talking about the guy doing the rant. Small world!
