Default Visiting Charlotte

I am planning a weekend trip to check out Charlotte within the next month or so. Looking for hotel recommendations, what I should see, places to eat etc... Trying to get a general impression of the city!

Hope this brief rundown helps shape rec's! Female in mid-late twenties, when I eventually do move down here I am looking to rent in the Elizabeth or Dilworth area, take classes for teaching degree at UNCC and get a job until I can teach.

Thanks for your help!

As far as the hotel is concerned, I would avoid the Omni. Stayed there a couple of times when we visited and feel it definitely isn't worth the pricetag outside of its great location downtown.

In fact, last time we stayed, a hotel worker entered our room at 1AM without announcing himself. He almost got himself knocked out

Since you are interested in Dilworth, why not stay there? There is a great little gem called the Morehead Inn you should check out. It is right there at the border of uptown for you to explore, plus better than just a regular old hotel http://www.moreheadinn.com/

Providence Court Apartment are very nice and in a safe area. This is however, not close to uptown. They are located just at the Matthews city limits in south Charlotte, a very desirable location. How close to uptown do you want to be?

As far as restaurants, I love Hotel Charlotte! It is located in the Cotswald neighborhood, about 10-15 minutes from uptown on Sharon Amity at Providence Road.

I would like to be relatively close to, but not in uptown. When I go out at night I'd prefer to have a short drive or cab ride home. And from what I have heard for young professionals that is where much of the social scene is. I will definitely check out Hotel Charlotte - Thanks Loves!!!
