^^^ I agree Pizza at Mama's is decent(regular pizza) But the sicilian special at Angela's is wayyyyyy better! It's delish and hugh weighs a ton yet the crust is light and airy like a good sicilian should be. I did not care for mama's sicilian style pizza.

As for dinners can't beat Angela's for taste ,quality and quanity.and all their seafood dishes are always fresh and fabulous, Zuppadi pesce is amazing.
It's one of my favorite Italian places

I think Portofinos has fantastic pizza, (cheese pie) and a great silician cheese pie too. I like Brooklyn pizza off Rea as well as Luigis off rt49 (S.Tryon).

Wink Pizza, Italian restaurants

It's been a while since I mentioned that Dalli's from Lake Mary, FL was opening in the Lowe's plaza on Idlewild at 485. Well, they finally did open and, as a former New Yorker, I tell you the food is great...You need to get there and try the pizza, calzones, and regular dinners. You will not be disappointed!!!

For what it's worth, Tony's in ballantyne is identical to Joe's Pizza (around the corner from John's on bleeker) in NYC....hands down the best if you want "NY" pizza. Owners from NY are Yankee fans, too . You'll see when you're in there.

This is coming from a long time Hawthorne's fan, which I think is still very good. But I also live 2 minutes from Tony's so it's a no brainer for me.

Default World without New York pizza

O.K. northerners, enough is enough. I have clarifyied, varified, and documented that the reason New York City pizzas are better than those outside of New York is because of the water. So, I don't care if you are from Long Island, Boston, Providence, Bayonne, or any other place in the world, if the pizza is made with other than New York water, it can't be a New York style pizza, right? I believe that this theory applies to bagels as well. In conclusion, if you want good New York pizza in Charlotte, your quickest bet is to take Jet Blue to Kennedy and head to Joey's Pizza or whatever pizza place is nearby. I always found it strange how water can make so much difference. I wonder what advantages water from the Cawtaba River offers? Maybe our biscuits are better? One other thought, somebody mentioned Sicilian Pizza in New York. Wouldn't using New York water override the creation of a Sicilian pizza and make it Sicilian style New York pizza?
