Smile Looking for a homemade southern mac and cheese recipe?

If anyone has a great southern recipe for mac and cheese can you share it please. If you have any other great recipes i would try them all.
Thank you. I'm also looking for a great appetizer. Not chips and dip.

1 (16 ounce) package uncooked elbow macaroni
3 (8 ounce) containers cottage cheese
1 (16 ounce) container sour cream
3 eggs
2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
or you can mix with Colby and Velveeta Cheese
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F .
  2. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  3. Boil large pot of lightly salted water .
  4. Add noodles and cook for 8 to 10 minutes; drain.
  5. In a large bowl combine cooked pasta, cottage cheese, sour cream, eggs, Cheddar cheese and cayenne pepper. Mix well and transfer to prepared dish. Sprinkle with paprika.
  6. bake 40 minutes. Cover loosely with aluminum foil

My recipe is similar, except I use half n half instead of the sour cream and cottage cheese. My family uses two eggs beaten and a half stick of margarine, along with the half n half.
