After last night's rain found this guy on back door
Pine woods treefrog I think. We never really had treefrogs up north and I guess where we were in Miami was too developed for them maybe. I've only seen a few in the wild. I definately want to build a garden to attract some insects/reptiles/amphibians now....we just have grass in the back yard now.
The Pine Woods treefrog isn't normally found in the Charlotte area according to the science folks at Davidson College. May be a different species. Perhaps a Northern Cricket frog or Cope's Gray treefrog?
I get a lot of these at my house also. Especially after a good soaking rain. The other night I had to run out back because I heard the wife screaming bloody murder. Come to find out it was a rather large tree frog sitting on the side of teh house inches from where she was rolling up the hose.
I'd be interested to know exactly what kind of frog they are. We had literally hundreds of those tiny frogs in our back yard a few weeks ago. They seem to have thinned out some now, but the kids still go out everyday and catch them. I don't even want to know how many made it into my garage. We have a little pond (drainage basin type thing) back behind our house, so I guess they came from there, but they're just hopping alover the grass out there.
