We're experiencing deflation right now. It could be a possibility this will continue for the coming months.
While all our lives for most of us we've only experienced inflation (that's what we're used to), deflation is what is going on now.

Enjoy it while you can for better or worse. Remember with deflation comes low demand for goods and services. That goes hand and hand with no work, layoffs, less food on the table.
For a visual image think of deflation like a big baloon in the Macy parade that had all it's air let out. Or, a fully pumped up one flying high in the sky like lucy.
I'll take the full one.

Yeah, uhm and uhm so your mine would suggest that because of that, one should not buy in CLT as OP 'er has stated? Don't be bashful or coy, state your point. Don't buy in Charlotte because many people, including bankers, cd makers and blacksmiths are losing their jobs. Right?
OK. So now please tell me what is the future of Charlotte. What would you as an informed person do? Buy? No buy? Wait and see?

anyone could tell you, i hope, that if you have a few hundred thousand lying around, you should definitely snap up all the prime real estate that is available for peanuts.

I don't want to extend it any further... but why won't this thread just go away.
If anyone could predict the future, why waste time on these boards. Go win the lottery, pick the right stuck, or get your own 900 call in number!

I agree with you 100% but it's difficult for some people to have to listen to sooth-sayers, real estate experts without 2 centavos in their worn out pants, or Monday morning quarterbacks. I sometimes think to myself...why do I even answer some of these posts? Going to restrain myself in the future.

Well, maybe not. Thread was started in mid July of 2008 and a lot has happen since then. Although I don't agree one bit with OP so much has changed in the economic climate of Charlotte (to include bank mergers, housing crash, etc) that we might have to play this out a little bit more.
OP states that CLT "is a dying city", There is no substantiation or proof that I know of to back this statement so people on board, naturally pick up the sword and go on attack.
As long as CLT is in a bit of turmoil, and until the economic situation stablilizes I think this thread will survive.
