If you live, work, or play in Steele Creek - or plan to in the future - please come join us for the 2010 annual Steele Creek Residents Association meeting. This is a great opportunity to learn about what's going on in the Steele Creek area of southwest Mecklenburg County.

Coach Joe White of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Board will talk about plans for new schools and other CMS issues. Park and Rec planners will talk about plans for new parks and improvements to existing parks. There'll also be a presentation about the Steele Creek Youth Network, a special project of the Steele Creek Division of CMPD for at-risk youth.

Other community groups and government agencies will have tables set up to present information about their programs.

The meeting is on Thursday, February 25 at Southwest Middle School from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.

We'll be accepting membership in the Residents Association (for $10) but membership is NOT required for attendance. Anyone interested in Steele Creek is welcome to attend.

I'd normally refer you to www.steelecreekresidents.org for more information, but the web host forgot to pay his bills, and the site is down right now. It should be up maybe early next week.

Hope to see you there!

I hope to get some real info and dates on how we will address the need for a new high school to support the area south of 49/160. This area is growing fast, even with the recession, and our kids deserve a high school for their area. Parents, please come out to voice your opinion and hopeful support for new school development sooner rather than later. If we need some private funding for this...what company or grants are out there for this need/effort? How much would we need to get a high school rolling?
