I'm planning a move to Charlotte in a couple weeks. I am a 22 year old recent college grad who will be teaching elementary school at Tuckaseegee. I'm looking to sublease and have contacted two people advertising rooms so far. The two I'm looking at now are on the south side, but one is in the Steele Creek/Lake Wylie area, which I really like, but might be a little too far from downtown for me. The other is south of Tyvola and east of South Blvd, on a street called Wensley Drive (I think in Area 6?). I don't know much of anything about this area and can't really find much online. If you know anything about this area (especially regarding safety!) that would be so great! Thanks so much

The Wensley Drive location is in a decent neighborhood but it does border on some sketchier ones, especially as you cross to the other side of south blvd. I can't really say about Lake Wylie/Steele Creek as that is a huge area with many nice nabes and many not nice nabes. If you like being closer to downtown and are looking for safety, you might try going just a little further north like the Woodlawn Road/Park Road area.
