Got an e-mail about this...thought I would pass it along. Memberships are free until they open.

GARDEN & GUN CLUB - Everyone is VIP.

No Velvet Rope. No Plasma TVs. No Attitude... not the way you usually hear brand new, 12,000 sq. ft. clubs describe themselves. But Charlotte, NC's thriving club scene is getting a fresh injection from GARDEN & GUN CLUB. The nightclub's focus is not flowers or guns... just pure dance music. The music people party to around the country & around world has finally made its way to Charlotte.

For a limited time, GARDEN & GUN CLUB MEMBERSHIPS ARE FREE! VISIT www.thegardenandgunclub.com, fill out the membership form and you're in! Even if you don't live in Charlotte, become a member anyway and we'll hold your membership card at the club.

STAY TUNED FOR GRAND OPENING INFO... SEE YOU SOON!

Heh, I've been 21 for a whole year now, and I still haven't set foot in a club uptown yet. I don't have anyone to go with really

Go to Meetup.com and look up Charlotte Young Adult Singles (CYAS) or Charlotte Young Professionals (CYP). They are people your age who like to get together at clubs and such

Other people have commented on the name apparently. Here is the response from their MySpace page:

The Garden & What?

What's in a Name?

Nothing and everything. The Garden & Gun Club isn't about weapons or landscaping, it's not a sly Southern country club for belles and beaus - it's a paradox. It's the ying and the yang, the soft and the hard, the good and the bad, the left and the right, the past and the future - it's about searching for what's different and finding the unexpected. But really? It's just a name.

The name is a rip off of a very upscale, slick Southern magazine. I would be protesting if I were the publishers!!!

Is it common for these membership forms to ask for a Driver's license number? I understand that whole name and date of birth deal, but can't they verify if it's a real license by scanning my license when I pick up the membership card?

I guess my hesitation comes more just cuz the website doesn't have any other information other than a way to collect information, or am I just being too paranoid?

Doesn't look like a very good part of town either.
