Can anyone tell me about this place? Is it worth the trip.

Sullivan's is a chain owned by the same folks as Texas Land & Cattle, Del Frisco, and Lonestar. It isn't bad, but for similar money I'd go to Ruth's Chris or Morton's.

I like Sullivans much better than Ruth Chris or Mortons.

All have good steaks. Each has a different feel. Sullivans has a more easygoing feel.

^True. I guess that I prefer the other chains because if I'm spending $200 on a meal then I expect a little formality.

I've been there, Morton's, the Palm, McIntosh's, beef 'n bottle, Bently's, etc. I'd prefer Capital Grill actually. I really don't "get" the taste of the others. Then again I prefer a steak off the back yard grill any day. My fav in Charlotte right now is the ribeye at LaTorre's.

We were just there a couple of nights ago.
They serve the best Dirty Martini I've ever had. I think they stuff the olives with Feta cheese. Their winelist is impressive, but needs more lower price points, IMO.
My husband ordered the sirloin. It was incredibly tender and delicious. I had the salmon, which was really good as well. The plateing itself wasn't overly impressive.
Service was really good. Our waitress couldn't have been more attentive.
The accoustics remind me of a very busy steakhouse. I hate feeling as though I'm dining in a warehouse.
If you can get a table in the "library" area of the diningroom, the sound may be little more subdued.
Overall, I would think that it is worth the trip.

it really depends on what kind of mood you're in.
we've eaten @ Morton's, Ruth's Chris, Del Frisco's, McIntosh's, Sullivans, etc....

if you want to be in the suit + tie crowd, go to Morton's or Ruth's Chris..
if you want to enjoy top notch cooking in a more casual setting, go to Sullivan's...

i like Del Frisco's the best...then Sullivans....then McIntosh's....

IMO, the crowd at Ruth Chris' was much more casual, when we were there a while ago. It seemed like there were many more suits at Sullivan's. Maybe it was just the night we chose to go...

I just moved here from Chicago where Steakhouses are a dime a dozen and all top notch. As a steakhouse guy once a week, I try to spread the love around, though Capital Grille is where I choose to go most frequently, plus my fiance loves the stoly-doly martinis (pineapple) - Petey makes them great! Regardless of the location, jeans and a nice shirt are acceptable anywhere. On Sunday's at Sullivan's they have a 3 course meal for $30 and sit outside or int he bar area - great for lounging and people watching. Michael Jordan goes there frequently too, so it's cool to see his entourage from time to time. If you want a butter steak - then Ruth Chris is the place to go - great place to eat outside too. Was not a fan of Del Frisco's - too stuffy. McIntosh's has amazing food, and is not a chain. Have not yet been to the Morton's in Charlotte, but was a BIG FAN of the original Morton's in Chicago.

One day I hope a Joe's Prime Steak, Seafood and Stone Crab open in Charlotte, as that's the best steak anywhere - bone-in filet baby!

Good luck with your choices - go to them all I say...just depends on the night for what kind of mood you're in.
