Are there lakes, rock quarry's, hidden gems, anywhere that you can rock jump? The higher the better. We used to find a whole bunch of gorgeous areas, either public parks or rock quarry's and look for crazy ledges to jump off of into the water. Anyone know of any?

Use to be great in Uwharrie National Forest at the Badin Lake Dam, but has since been restricted to the public for safety concerns and Homeland Security breaches. The cliffs and dam offered jumps from 20-70 feet into 100 feet of water. Some great times out there over the years, but a few people have died out there--mostly to careless and wreckless behavior.

I've heard of a rock quarry somewhere, but never went there myself. I've never know of another jumping spot since UNF got shut down.

This is the one I used near Gold Hill around 35 years ago. About an hour from Charlotte.

thanks guys. there was this place called lake minnewaska back in NY that used to be a private rock quarry. you could find rocks at all heights from about 3 inches above lake level to "holy cow, what are we thinking" height. then the state bought it back and they wouldn't allow u to jump anymore. we would sneak in and get a jump in now and then but you'd have to get out immediately and hope you didn't get stopped by a park ranger on the way out. but if it's like homeland security breaches, I think I'll pass on that one. thanks for the info guys.

I don't know many places like that in Charlotte, but one place I'd go to is called Carrigan Farms. Its kind of a pond/lake, its a good place to go out with some friends to chill. They have cliffs you can jump from ranging from 45ft to 75ft.

Carrigan Farms, Mooresville NC

Yup, I've never jumped off it myself, I only did the 45ft and 65ft ones. But according to Carrigan (yes I asked him myself lol), there has been no injuries there.

Dude, i just looked up Carrigan Farms, its legit. Are you allowed to jump off everything you see in the pictures on the website, Carrigan Farms, Mooresville NC. And it looks to be a little crowded, especially with little kids. Are there life guards there?

I thought Carrigan Farms was private and only used by (school groups and) people renting the whole facility.
